Leopol's Forever Home! "Dear Friends, Dot & Dex "Hi there, My family adopted two pups from you in January, one bulldog mix and one lab/collie mix. I've attached a photo that my son took of them for his photography class." Daisy's Second Chance. "Here is a picture of Daisy who I adopted last summer from your shelter. She was one of 25 dogs that were owned by a person who horded dogs. She is great. Here she is with her new brother, Atom, who was adopted in Bennett, Iowa 2 years ago." - Deb Doehler Flossie in her forever home. "Dear Friends of the Animals- We have truly enjoyed bringing Flossie into our family. She was in pretty rough shape when we got her and she struggled with a sinus infection for about the first month she was with us. We had her spayed right away (as you probably know) and that probably didn't help her with her infection. Eventually, she overcame the infection and started packing on the pounds! At last check in April (when we got her Heartgard prescription) she weighed a lean and mean 125 lbs. Flossie is very good with kids, as she gets to walk with our son to school every day. The local kids love her. My sister, who is also a long time dog owner, said one day that she thought Flossie could be a therapy dog, since she is so gentle around kids and adults. We had some concern about keeping her in the yard but she is very well behaved and listens to her owners, almost without fail. She loves to play fetch and can really cover some ground in a hurry. We purchased a "Chuck-it" ball thrower, and she can sometimes beat the ball to the point where it hits the ground if you get the trajectory right. However, she does not change direction very quickly, so it is quite comical to see her over shoot her target and have to back track. Please see the attached recent photo taken by our six year old (they see eye to eye, literally!). Thank you for letting us have Flossie" Crinkle, the gray tabby, was adopted in 2004 and her dog buddy Jane was
adopted in 2005. "Crinkle was born with a crooked neck. She always has a cute, inquisitive tilt when she looks at us. People were often worried about future health problems when they looked at her. She’s a happy, healthy cat who is friendly with everyone and she adores Jane, as you can see. Jane has a sad past and she was a special needs adoption. After nearly a year at the shelter most of the volunteers thought she would never find a home. Her spirit was broken and she was afraid of everything. She’s now a confident, happy dog who enjoys life. She likes when other dogs come over to play and all of our cats love to sleep with her." -Renee Hogan Tommi (formerly "Pele") Then & Now. "Tommi has been a marvelous addition to our family. We are very thankful to have her and we think she likes being with us too! She is a sweet dog with a licker that is hard to turn off. She loves to chase a tennis ball, play with a braided fabric rope and chew on the pressed raw-hide bones. She also loves her neighborhood friends with whom she gets to play with all the time. My husband always says, she is the dog we always dreamt of. I have to agree!" Dell at home with his new family, The Kaalberg's. "Our three boys love him to pieces and where they are you are sure to find Dell right there getting into trouble with them. But he is a momma's boy....This picture was taken on Thanksgiving. He is packing on the pounds and he seems very happy with us. Thank you guys so very much for allowing us to adopt Dell." -Amanda, Kevin, Dakota, Dalton, Jaxson, Colby, and Dell Kaalberg Max in his new forever home! "My name is Tracie Zweifel and I live in Waterloo. I decided to adopt Max when I saw his photo on your website. He captured my heart instantly! He can be a little naughty at times, but when I look into his big, brown eyes I can't help but smile. I can't thank the Friends of the Animals enough. Everyone that works there is fantastic and was very helpful!:) They are a wonderful organization and people should really look into them and give these 'homeless' pets a second chance. They are well worth it." -Tracie Zweifel Share Your Happy Tails! Every animal that comes through our doors holds a special place in our hearts long after they've found their forever-home.
